Leonardo da Vinci's Workshop

Leonardo da Vinci's Workshop

February 5-May 22, 2011

The genius of Leonardo da Vinci, the greatest mind of the Renaissance, springs to life in this much heralded exhibit from Italy. Enjoy full-size three-dimensional models of da Vinci's doodles and sketches as interpreted by a team of dedicated engineers, designers and da Vinci scholars from Milan. See a working model of da Vinci's Aerial Screw, forerunner to the helicopter; his Great Kite; his Self-Propelled Cart; the Harpsichord-Viola—too complex to have been built in his lifetime; and a Mechanical Lion to dispense lilies, commissioned by Francis I of France. Touch one of the many computer screens located throughout the exhibit and electronically discover the mysteries inside the pages of Leonardo's Codices. Learn more about da Vinci's mind and inventions by experimenting with countless digital 3D models available on the interactive screens in the exhibit. Plus—for the first time new discoveries about The Last Supper, the most important painting by Leonardo, will be unveiled.
